Walking Away

No, its not a Craig David song. I just bought a pedometer ($2 @ Priceline :)) today and was going to record how many steps I took in a day to see if I was getting roughly the right amount of ‘exercise’ without even knowing it. Found these few helpful sites that explained the whole concept about taking 10 000 steps per day, the idea which originated in Japan.

This site mentioned that a sedentary person takes about 1000 - 3000 steps per day. I started wearing the pedometer at 5pm today and went about and did house chores and ate dinner and the counter already says I took 1489 steps. In 2 hours. I don’t think I would classify myself as a sedentary person after that.

I’m going to wear it to work tomorrow, for my shift starting 8am till 3pm and see how many steps I’ve taken throughout the day. The goal is to take 10 000 steps per day, to keep active. I’m generally sick of feeling so unfit and so flabby during the winter and exam months. Those chocolates at the supermarket don’t really do much for the wait after a while….Hurrr….

So here’s the plan:
1. No more chocolate and junk food allowed. Only 1 item of junk food is allowed per month as a treat.
2. No taking naps during the day unless sleep the night before was 6 hours or less.
3. Exercise! Dancing to music is exercise. Cleaning up my room is exercise. Walking around is exercise.
4. Spend 15 minutes a day tidying up my room (Yes, dad this is your advice all along :P)

A plan is nothing if I don’t keep track of any progress right? Here’s to making progress!

Clubbing Weekend

Yes, I finally went clubbing at Metro’s on Saturday night :) There always has to be a first for everything in life.

Went to Saigon in Northbridge for dinner and some powerful Vietnamese white iced coffee *slurps* Those things are the bomb! And then it was off to Metro’s for a night of dancing and partying away! Ange, Lin and me went off to Metro’s and the babes gave me a ‘tour’ of the place…..”There is the red bar (points to a bar with red lights), and those 2 are the blue bars (points at the bars with blue lights, left and right of the mosh pit). The toilet is up here, and the dance floor is down there with the people dancing and the DJs playing. That is all you need to know”.

And clearly that was all I needed to know. After the little tour, saw John near the blue bar with a bunch of friends. Don’t ask me how I managed to recognise him in the dark and in a strange place, I just have this thing for noticing people :) And from the ‘balcony’, we saw Ee and her bf Hung, and Maybz waiting in the line outside. Don’t know how I did that :P

I <3 those babes to death! They were so nice and we ended up dancing, walking to the toilets with hands linked (it's only cause we didn't want to loose each other in the dark) and meeting random people on the dance floor. We were one of the first to dance, and there was this photographer chick from Xpress magazine who took our pictures for the mag, so if anyone sees the mag, please keep it for me! I wanna see it :)

It was fully packed to the point where the dance floor was so squished you could barely dance after a while. The acts there were quite good, I must say the guys in the jump suits were awesome! Not to mention they also danced to the JT songs AND Bob Sinclar....Hahaha....Great songs and veeeeery cute guys dancing on the stage....Hahaha.

I'll put up pictures of us when I finally get them Ange, who is in Melbourne now. I miss you babes!!! Managed to take a few pictures of myself at dinner :P So here they are! And the dress I'm wearing is only 10 bucks :P Though I thought it was a top at first....Hahaha...till Ange made me try it on without bottoms. Lol. Then I realised it was long enough to be a dress, and it says so on the label as well :P

Me
Me

If you were wondering why my eyes look like that, I’ll have you know its the smoky eye look, done by Ange….Hahaha….Nobody bashed me up so my eyes looked like that. In fact, I quite like my eyes like that thank you very much :)

Well, now is a good time as any to write a whole “1st Timer’s Guide to Clubbing”, seeing that I went on Saturday and have had a feel of the whole clubbing scene :P Not that I’m in the clubbing scene a lot.

First of all, I would recommend bringing friends with you that you can trust, just in case things go wrong. If you’re a girl, bring girl friends that have been there before or bring a guy friend you can trust. But then again, bring your girlfriends :P Holding hands while walking on the dance floor or on the way to the toilet might seem strange, but better safe than sorry. It is dark in there and its loud, so chances of finding you group of friends if you’re lost might be a little slim. Also, designate a driver waaaaaaaaay in advance just so you know who cannot drink that night. Sounds rather basic but then again, would you like to place your life in the hands of a person who has drank enough alcohol to last for weeks? Plus, in case fights break out (they happen pretty often I heard) your friends will be there to huddle with you and stay away till the bouncers break up the fight.

One more thing when clubbing, make sure you dress properly. That’s collared shirts/T-shirts for the guys (the bouncers were strict, they turned away a bunch of guys in the line ahead of us cause they wore T-shirts without collars) and dressy things for the girls :) Or rather anything appropriate enough to dance in and to climb up and down stairs in. Last thing you need is for a wardrobe malfunction on the dance floor :) Also, wear COMFORTABLE shoes/heels. OK, I admit, after dancing for 3 hours NO shoes can remain comfortable :P Just remember that there will be glass on the dance floor from the drinks, so wear shoes that will protect your feet from the glass. My feet have just started to recover from all that dancing :P

Try to arrive early and snag an awesome parking spot if you’re driving. You’d be VERY thankful that you snagged a spot in front of the club after you finish and your feet are screaming out for relief. Entry is cheaper earlier and you have a lot shorter line for the cloak room :) Then again, after the whole thing, the line to the cloak room is going to be really long, so might as well leave your coats in the car and wear a pashmina inside and stash it away in a bag while dancing. Works wonders :)

Things to bring:
1. ID - you’re not getting anywhere without this, so don’t forget this if you have to forget anything :P
2. Money - again, not gonna get inside if you don’t have moolah. A 50 will do to buy you entry and at least a few drinks
3. Camera if its small enough and you don’t mine carrying it while dancing. Though I think sometimes they check you for cameras during events, so just be mindful of it.
3. Mobile, keys
Girls, don’t worry about carrying your whole makeup kit and kaboodle, its too dark to fix makeup anyway. The most you need is lipbalm and lipgloss. As for bags, don’t carry a massive one, either a clutch or a small shoulder bag is good enough so you can dance with. You don’t really want to be poking someone’s eyes out with a massive bag :P

As for drinks, I have no clue to what is what but they have the usual stuff you’d find in a tav, plus cocktails and other randoms bits and pieces :)

Speaking about random bits and pieces, I just got my hair cut yesterday, just a trim nothings drastic. I’m wanting to grow my hair out long but its seriously not behaving itself lately. Went to Just Cuts in the city. I reckon that lady that did my hair (Lynn) isn’t such a good stylist. I prefer my usual stylist, Stef to do my hair cause somehow she does it right. Hurr….Anyway, reason I’m writing about them is that you know how they spray your hair with water before cutting it right? This other girl, Lynn, sprayed so much water on my hair that it ended up being soaking wet and cold. And they’re smart, they charge 6 bucks to blow dry hair. I couldn’t exactly be walking the streets of Perth at 10am with wet hair and freezing my head off now could I??? Grrrr….

Anyways, I’m off to catch up on my beauty sleep now. Toodles!

Day 5

In case you’re wondering why the titles says Day 5 instead of starting at Day 1, its cause its Day 5 into my semester break.

I spent the early part of the day clearing my room, doing laundry, organising my files and preparing to pack them away and get ready for next semester. I’ve finally decided on what I’d want my timetable to look like for next semester, though whether or not I’d get it and along with the girls will be an entirely different matter. Though I’m praying it does happen cause I don’t want to sit in applied neuro, mental health, individual & group counselling classes without my babes. I’d be so lost without them.

Not seeing the babes for a few days feels so weird. We used to have classes together all the time, but now that it’s break we’re all working, and running errands in our separate ways. Sigh. Ange, Lin, if you’re reading this, I MISS YOU!!! See you tomorrow!!! Hahaha….We’re going to rock the dance floor :P

Went out with Zaneta today, and it just had to rain didn’t it. First we hit Subi, next was Harbourtown and then the City for some late night shopping. And I just realised Harbourtown is classfied as city shopping, so its open till late on Fridays! Yay!

Anyways, I’ve finished watching Heroes Season 1!! Gosh, what an ending. I seriously want to see what happens in the next season with that ending. Such a cliffhanger :P I have Scrubs Season 1 on my HD, I’ll probably move on to watching that soon since I need to finish 6 seasons of Scrubs before uni starts again. I’ve got something like 5-6 weeks of holidays (technically) and 1 week has almost passed already.

It’s hard to believe that I finished exams this week and its only Friday. I’m pretty lucky to finish on Monday of 2nd week while some people finished exams today. Poor them.

Anyhow, I’m seriously tired now. I’m off to bed before I collapse from lack of sleep tomorrow after work and clubbing with the girls at night. Toodles!

You Know

I think I’m turning into a female version of you, Edrei. For one, I’m actually planning to go write a HTML version of a blog template. And that I’ve convinced some people to start a blog. How about that? :)

Do I Look Scary Like This?

This has got to be the ultimate Kristine Moment ever! I never tire of having my Kristine Moments and looking like a fool in the public :P

After dinner at Taka’s on Monday night, Ange, Euhin, Lin and I were walking back to the car to get Icey Ice (Ohmygoshithastobethebestdesserteverthenewbubbletea!) when we (or rather I) stumbled upon these set of light on the ground where they light the trees above it, along Murray Street in the city. I thought it’d be amusing to go and pose above the lights and see if I did indeed look scary or not cause I read somewhere that lighting from below really isn’t flattering and can make you look much older.

Ange was on the phone trailing behind me, Lin and Euhin were in front talking about some random thing and I stood there on the light and posed my question to Lin and Euhin: “Do I look scary like this?”

The most obvious answer would be a simple no.

But then again, I am Kristine, and Ange, Euhin and Lin are Ange, Euhin and Lin. So what happens next?

I get ignored by the 2 in front of me who were still animatedly talking about the Friends night, and Ange is still on the phone. Next thing I know, this guy comes up from behind when I repeat my question and goes, “Arrghhh…..You are very scary”. Along with hand actions.

At this stage, Ange has just come off the phone and saw what had just happened. And all 4 of us just burst out laughing while walking…..Ohmygosh, that had got to be the most embarrassing moment in my life :$ And the guy just continued walking, smiling to himself.

I was laughing and crying at the same time, this has to be the most classic moment yet!! LOL.

On a side note, its been freezing lately! And I’m having such a bad cold. My nose is leaking like a tap all day long. Sigh.

Finished!

It is a relief to be finished with the 4 exam papers, including the 2 4th year units that we had to do. We had applied research today and I tell you the cheat sheet I wrote was really worth the time and effort…Hahaha….He asked the same questions that he did as both the in-class assessments and thank God I took the effort to write them down when he discussed them and put them in the cheat sheet :)

Me and the babes and Euhin (minus Kim who has an exam tomorrow) are going to go for dinner soon, so that’s all from me for now!!! Wheeee!!!!

P/S: I’m working from 8am till 4.30pm tomorrow and possibly the whole week so I’m not sure what my schedules are like but I’ll ring you when you finish Zaneta! I won’t abandon you!! :D

Moment Of The Night

In my pep talk with Ange, this was probably the most hilarious conversation I’ve had in a long time. I must really look like a bimbo now :P She was telling me to change my personal msg, hence the following conversation:

ange says:

News Flash

I interrupt this update to bring you this news flash. It was noticed early in the afternoon that Kristine was caught stuffing her face with chocolate cake. The subject was seen buying the cake at the Bookmark cafe and bringing it up to the library admonishing the cake at an astonishing rate.

She was also later caught dancing to Bob Sinclar’s Rock This Party in a futile attempt to try and work off the chocolate cake from system.

It must also be reported that Kristine is having her last exam tomorrow at 8.30am till 10.40am and will be done for the semester. Her projected grade for rehab is a distinction so she is breathing a little easier now :)

That is all for the news update. Back to the weather report now.

Other Blog

Yes, I love blogging that me and Zaneta have come up with another blog. It is still under construction and will be up and running properly after the exams. We have plans indeed for this blog of ours :)

Stay tuned and CLICK HERE or use the link on the sidebar. Enjoy!

Lonesome Last

Last paper for this semester on Monday!! I can’t tell you happy I am now that my childhood paper is over and done with. My right hand is just so sore from writing almost non-stop for 2 hours. It’s cruel I tell you, cruel to make us write soooooo much in just 2 hours.

We were supposed to come up for assessments (formal and informal) assessments to conduct with Thomas, describe assessment and intervention with Thomas based on the Family Centred Model, write up some play skills ideas to teach Thomas’ parents to do with him at home, address the performance components that you want to address with those activities, and come up with intervention strategies for direct, supervised and consultative models. This is just beyond me. My wrist is ABSOLUTELY KILLING ME NOW. I think I filled up a good 8 pages back and front with all that writing and writing.

I’m not too worried about the applied research on Monday, just have to pass the biostats part to pass the unit and with the cheat sheet at hand and knowing that I understand what is happening in biostats its not a problem. What is going to be a problem is putting down 2 research designs in less than 2 hours. Here goes another writing like mad session again!! I’ve got work tomorrow and then I’m off to uni on Sunday to study it up and come up with my cheat sheet for Monday’s paper. After 10.40am on Monday, I’m officially a free person till next semester.

I’ve got to organise that time table for next sem, trying to fit in all the babe’s preferences and make sure we get into all the same classes again….Hehehe :)

Anyways, I’m going to shower now. I need a well-deserved break for my poor aching wrist.
