Perth Airport Security Sucks

I’m fuming mad at the moment. Just came back from dropping Sam off at the airport.

Stupid incident happened with the security guard there. I’ve included below what I actually wrote to the Perth Airport Management.

This is what I wrote in the complaint:

Hi, I’m writing in to inform you of the incident I encountered this evening while dropping some friends to Perth Airport.

I must say, in all my years with dropping and picking people up from the airport today has left me with a sour note. So far this year, I’ve gone to the airport about 20 times to pick and drop people off and

I understand that the airport is undergoing some upgrades and therefore traffic to and the airport is affected. I was trying to pull up to drop my friends off at 11pm on the 23rd June and there weren’t any available spots to pull up, which was fine. I was going to make another round and try again.

I pulled to a stop in front of the departure gates as I had noticed a car in front of me signalling to pull out. There was a security guard who was telling me to move on. I pointed to him to show him the car was pulling out and was blocking my path so I could not move forward. This security guard yelled at me that I could not stop here.

I knew that but at that point, I obviously could not move forward due to the car being in front of me. I find this security guard extremely rude and not even bothering to look ahead to see why I wasn’t moving.

I hope you will take this feedback on board and improve your service as this is a poor reflection of your personnel.

Thank you.

Stupid idiot must have thought, “Oh, this is a young Asian girl driving this big ass car. Must be some rich kid who doesn’t know how to drive and doesn’t know she can’t stop in the middle of the road”.

Bastard. When he was yelling at me, I was pointing to the car in front of me, which was already halfway out and if I moved I would have hit it. I know la its 11pm but hell I think you don’t have to yell at me. I was so pissed I yelled back at him (through the window of course). He was so bloody loud that I could hear him through my window with the radio on.

And do you know what the best part was? I had to drop Sam at the rental car place cause there was no place to pull up man. What a day for an airport run. Now I’m too worked up about it to sleep.

Yes, I had similar experience, I was at the pickup area before the change now where the pickup area is at the outer lane, there was a sign says you can only stop for 2 minutes, and I was there less than 30 seconds, there was a security officer walk pass my car, he knock on my window and says”do you see the sign, move” in a very rude way, and he walk away without letting me say anything. Ever since the stupid 911, yes we need the security to protect us, but it doesn’t have to be so rude, so as the security check area, and there is nowhere to complaint, my family had once got the rude treatment, and ask for the officer’s name, and he said they don’t give their name, and he said he is the supervisor, you can complaint to him, which is meaningless. I am planning to call the radio station to bring up the issue, I am sure there are more people out there had similar experience, it is totally unacceptable.

Unfortunately, Perth Airport is full of people who failed their basic shopping centre security guard training. It will never change. My favourite is the gruff lady in Arrivals Customs who likes to take large and/or young families aside at 1am from Heathrow or Dubai with sleeping kids on shoulders and a ton of baggage to rummage through their plethora of barbie and thomas suitcases – until 2am – and then swipe it aside like it’s not her problem and leave the family to repack their luggage while she undoes someone else’s luggage right on top of your mess – that she created – while tutting the whole time. That lady gets my vote for Mayor….

No, Perth Airport is the reason for our dwindling tourist numbers. It’s easier to go to Darwin and drive over to Broome, then fly down to Perth locally than fly directly to Perth from OS.

In fact, on our next trip to Singapore, we’re doing just that. International Perth Airport can go jump.
