Random Thoughts

Yes, I’ve got a ganglion cyst on the dorsal area of the radial side of my right wrist. Not dangerous or anything, just painful when poked. Its sorta fun to poke at but after a while poking really canes :P Which is kinda stupid to be poking in the first place. Must be the overuse in these last few weeks that aggrevated it.

It was around before, much much smaller in size. Still can’t see it, but if you poked it or rub it you can feel it. I definitely should stop using my wrist too much to avoid it growing any larger. If it gets larger, then I’ll go see the doctor to drain the excess fluid from it.

Anyway, ganglion cysts aside I’m feeling a lot less stressed than I was yesterday. The relief has flooded over me, but it definitely is time to move on to studying for the tests and exams. That means something like 400 pages of reading to get through. And this is already minus the reading that I have done, which amounts to something like 100 plus pages. Arghh!!!!!!!!!

Wish me luck!

Tonight is game night at Joe’s place but I have to study for the test this Friday and with all the presentations and assignments due I don’t have the time and energy to spare, although I would like to play mahjong after not playing for a while :P That’ll have to wait till the holidays.

Which reminds me, I’m thinking of signing up to become an O-Day volunteer for the fun of it :) Been meaning to do that for years but always haven’t got time. Don’t know if i’ll have time this sem holidays with work and everything but if I don’t do it these holidays, I’ll do it next year.

Speaking about holidays, I can’t wait till the exams are over. The official exam timetable is out:
12th June (Tuesday) @ 9am: OT 305 - Rehabilitation 400:230/233
14th June (Thursday) @ 9am: OT 403 - Professional Issues 402:216-218
15th June (Friday) @ 3.30pm: OT 304 - Childhood and Adolescence 408:1019
18th June (Monday) @ 8.30am: OT 402 - Applied Research 407:305/307/309

Oh well. Time to go!

Of Anatomy and Turning Over a New Leaf

I thought I’d given up anatomy when I finished OT 202 - Anatomy & Kinesiology last semester, but nooooo. I was sitting in the library Level 2 Reserve Section, studying my McMaster Forms so we could discuss it in class on Thursday when this bunch of physio year 1 students came and sat at my table (cause there weren’t any others left) and started going over their lecture notes.

So I received a part lecture of the scapula, ribs, vertebrae and I heard questions about the bones that I would have answered, but I was earnestly trying to concentrate on my own work.

I woke up at 6.30am today ans went over the article I had to critically appraise and I decided to go to uni a little bit earlier today, just to avoid the blistering 42 degree heat. So I’ve pretty much caught up on things and now am planning things out right down to the tiniest detail in life. Turning over this new leaf really has been good. I feel much better about myself and although I feel a tiny bit foolish cause I wasn’t working hard last time, it’s all good.

I’ve even limited my Internet quota to something like 30 mins per day of chatting online. Which lead to a rather interesting conversation with Edrei last night. I told him my quota was up for last night and I had to go offline and get some work done. His response?

“WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE REAL KRIS??”

Ain’t that a great friend? :)

One Down, 3 To Go

I suppose I should feel a little relief that I have finished my anatomy exam, but it didn’t go to well. At the very least, I’ll be able to get enough marks to get a supplementary exam paper. Which would suck, but failing the unit sucks even more.

I hate the wheelchair propulsion movement analysis with everythign I’ve got. I expected the door knob movement analysis to come out, not this wheelchair one. Sigh.

I’ve got the VIVA on Thursday, which is less of a worry. As the time goes on, the exams further down the track don’t worry me so much. VIVA is sort of under control and gero and clin med are also sort of under control. Gero I’ve got to read up, but I’ll be able to do it now since that anatomy is out of the way.

I’m glad that is done. I cnanot stand anatomy and am glad that I will not have to do it for the rest of my life. I will probably miss the cadavers and scaring people with my cadaver stories, but its good that I do not have to remember all the muscles and functions anymore.

Whatever happens is beyond my control now. All I can do is continue praying. And by the way, in case any Curtin OT people are reading, the answer to the 50 year old man question is that he fractured his clavicle. Not his humerus. I’m doomed.
