I’ve been down with the flu since Thursday. I started a nagging sore throat on Wednesday night but I had Strepsils and plenty of water, in an attempt to try and flush out the bacteria. I even gargled salt water on Thursday morning to try and kill of the germs.
But alas, I woke up on Thursday morning, feeling rather tired and not wanting to get out of bed. Assuming that it was just a case of theweekendisnearitis, I rolled outta bed amid a bad sore throat and feeling rather cold that morning. But mind you, it is in the middle of winter now so one would expect it to be dead cold. Made my way to work and lo and behold, felt very much colder than usual and was shivering while going around the wards seeing patients. I had to do a shower assessment in the morning and while I watched in on one and did one myself, I was feeling so cold it wasn’t funny. I had to pretty much wear my heavy winter coat on top of my OT uniform and long sleeved shirt to keep warm over a warm cup of coffee.
After the action meeting at 8.30am and eating half a croissant, I still didn’t feel too good. I tried to keep up, but soon the body aches had begun, I officially have moved into flu territory. Admittedly its far less severe than my previous bouts of flu but its right smack in the middle of prac nonetheless. After lunch time, I didn’t think I could handle feeling so cold and so painful anymore and longed to curl up on my bed and just fall asleep. So I took off and went home, and I had to wait a blooming 35 minutes in the freezing cold and rain for the bus which was blooming late. I wasn’t a happy camper. I thought I was delirious that I had misread the bus timetable but indeed the bus was just extremely tardy.
I got home by 2pm and popped my contacts out put on 3 layers of clothes and crawled under 3 layers of blankets and dozed off effectively till 8pm when I thought it’d be a good idea to take some flu tablets. So off I trudged downstairs to get some soup into me, since I hadn’t eaten anything apart from half the croissant for morning tea. Got those down and went back to sleep from 9pm till about 8am Friday morning when I had to phone my supervisor to let her know that I would not be coming in to work that morning. I guess I could have, but I thought I’d better take it off, just in case I get worse and end up having to come back home again and stuff. So I effectively slept most of Friday away, willing my body to fight the flu. My fever went down on Friday morning so I felt much much better. Its awfully dreadful to be feeling cold even though you’re tucked in under 3 blankets, socks on, PJs on and still shivering.
I worked on Saturday, just having a slight cough and runny nose but it worked out alright.
Played tennis on Sunday, and amazingly enough I am not that sore today. Only slightly sore in my bum (I still don’t get why the muscles around my ischial tuberosities are aching) and my other limbs are fine. I guess this is a rather good form of exercise for me haha This week will probably be badminton since most of them are off on cell retreat, but we’ll see how it goes.
Well, I’m here to report that I’m currently having a slightly runny nose and a very mild cough but otherwise, surviving nicely. Team meetings after the 2 ward rounds were rather relaxed today, we had quite a few people get discharged while we were on shift today. Bumped into Justin Ti while seeing a patient and was quite amused to see them hunting down patients to sign off for their musculoskeletal part of their log books. So I have no become the person to go to for patients that they need to sign their log books haha
Anyways, I should be off writing my own case study and racking up the hours for my portfolio. Toodles!
These 2 weeks haven’t been the best for me health wise. I’ve had 3 day headaches, bouts of diarrhoea and now I’m down with a mild runny nose.
I had a 4 hour nap today and I feel marginally better.
Well I should really go get some work done. Hello 50 pages of strategies for cognitive and perceptual deficits and exam paper!
Well, I just wrapped up a very busy weekend. Was mother’s day over the weekend and I pulled extra shifts at work on Saturday and Sunday. Did 2pm till 10pm on Saturday, making 2 batches of continental cheesecakes and some tortes in between selling the cakes. Worked 1.30pm till 7.30pm on Sunday as well, serving my share of the cake hungry customers that came in the shop. I tell you, I dreamt of cakes at 4am that morning, it wasn’t funny anymore. I’m kinda sick and tired of looking at cakes and watching my waistline grow *sigh*
Mum, if you are reading this Happy Mother’s Day!!! I love you and I miss you everyday! I can’t wait to see you soon! <3 Oh, and yes I miss you too Dad and David!
Speaking of cakes, it was Elizabeth’s birthday on Sunday! It was such a pity that I couldn’t stay and have lunch after church cause I had to go to work. Elizabeth, it has been a great joy getting to know you through the Easter camp, cell groups and our museums trip to Freo. I only knew you then as one of Justin’s sisters who we were going to pick up to drive to Orchard Glory Resort for camp. It was through the massage trains during Power House and contending in the water games as well as sleeping in the car together on the way home that I got to know you better. Facebook and MSN played a big part as well
It is such a joy to have a sister in Christ that I can talk to and inspire me in times where I am unsure of myself. You pick me up when I feel down, you encourage me when I feel useless and most of all, you are there supporting me as I take on new roles in church and start to explore serving in church. You give me strength when I’m weak and remind me what an awesome God we serve and build me up as a sister in Christ. I’m proud to call you my sister and my cell member.

Happy birthday Elizabeth! May you have a great week ahead! Love lots!
I haven’t been up to much lately. Just staying at home and getting my self directed project done, I’m now going to be doing about 200 pages worth of strategies for cognitive and perceptual deficits. It’s now become like a thesis, just a more handy thesis. In between that, I’m doing my take home exam which is due May 30th as well as looking for another job.
I’m narrowed the choice down to handing in my CV to the vietnamese place on Albany Highway since its so near and thats possibly the only place that I can work during prac since I want to take the night shifts like once or twice a week the most. Plus my Saturday shift at The Cheesecake Shop. Between that and my prac, I estimate I’ll be getting out of the house by 6.30am and coming home about 6pm, running off to work and working till 10pm. So that’s roughly a 15 hour day and to top that off I’ve gotta study for prac, do portfolios and research projects and get assignments done for my other unit. I’m looking forward to the experience of prac but I’m not looking forward to running around like a chicken with its head chopped off. I anticipate my diary being filled chokers with all the stuff and things I have to do but it sure beats sitting around and getting bored outta my head.
On the topic of money, I’m getting the jobs now so at least I won’t have to worry so much about money. Since I’ve got the car, its going to be a big money guzzler. Petrol prices have gone up, food prices have gone up but wages haven’t gone up. I’m so waiting for my tax return in August so I can at least have a bit more money. I’ve contemplated selling my earrings online but at what profit margin? Who knows, maybe this site will be turned into a place to sell stuff LOL Tell me what you think.
I’m going to go off now, I think I’ve ranted enough for one night after neglecting my blog for so long.
I have now been unleashed onto Perth roads! Beware Perth! Kristine and her Blue Lightning are going to be driving around! Wheee!!!
Got called into work yesterday and so I drove Bluey down to East Vic Park and back. Woohoo! Not so stressed driving down Mounts Bay Road now
Anyways, will be going to get Ange from Wembley today for dinner and drive to Aarki’s for cell tonight. Toodles!
Went to uni today to submit my project proposal for my self-directed prac and I tell you I had the hardest time getting outta bed/couch. It didn’t help that I’m already so sick with flu and I overslept my alarm by 45 minutes. Also the rain really didn’t do much for my mood, it was pouring and pouring buckets out there and armed with a half working umbrella, I caught the buses to uni and realised a bit too late my shoes weren’t waterproof and my feet were swimming in puddles of water.
I’m currently bundled up in a thick jumper, going to go shower soon and bury myself further into my blankets and go read stuff for bible study on Friday. I need chicken soup
And on a side note, I gave the Sass & Bide warehouse sale a miss this year, with being broke and sick and all.
*Coughs miserably*
This link says it all. I’m shocked at the results of the polls but I’m happy. Although I didn’t get to vote this round, the results are good
With some encouragement to put in my fieldwork appeal to my fieldwork coordinator, and some great appeal writing advice from Edrei I finally submitted my appeal via e-mail last night.
And this afternoon, waiting in my inbox was an e-mail telling me that I don’t have to go to Collie and have instead been reassigned to the Alzheimer’s Association in Shenton Park! I can’t stop grinning from ear to ear
Oh my, so much has happened since I last blogged. I’ve just came back from a stint working as manager for the Cheesecake Shop while my bosses were away for some business. I’ve learnt heaps from that experience, from opening up in the morning to running the whole shop to actually making continental cheesecakes and dealing with crises. It was a real eye opening experience. Made my 1st continental cheesecake today!
Anyways, more dramass at work today with ingredients not being right and all sorts of other things happening.
To cut a very very long story short, I’m back and I have my new laptop with me and I’m blogging from it.
Plan for tomorrow is to go to the bank and settle a few things and then probably go to uni to sort out a few things that need to be sorted out and then probably clear my room out and all other sorts or random stuff to do. So much to do and so little time! Uni is starting up again and I have a ton of paper work to fill out and to finish before I can go back.
Well, that’s all for now, but I’ll definitely put pictures up of stuff
Oh, and turning 22 isn’t a great deal, I had a finger slice of my bday cakes and 2 blueberries LOL
Admitedly I have been banned from my own site due to some plugins working overzealously for me, but no matter I’m back and back to blogging.
I’m happy as a duck, got results back yesterday and passed everything! The overview for the self-directed project is due today and that’s been taken care of and I’m sitting at home taking pictures of myself and loading them to Facebook. As I promised, I did take some shots of my new haircut. And yes, I love myself that’s why I take pictures of myself in the wideeeeeeee mirror and here we goooooooo!

David, this is for you! Your sneak preview of the shirts I bought for you…Hahaha…Now all you have to do is wait for to to arrive

I told the lady to cut it like Victoria Beckham style but my fringe was not long enough so she didn’t cut it as angular as I wanted it to be. So now all I have to do is wait for my fringe to grow out properly, go to the hairdressers for another cut and it’ll all be nice and angular again

As you can tell, I’m stoked with getting my FutureSex/LoveShow DVD that I had to camwhore with it

Don’t mind the smile, that DVD was well worth the money. 3 hours worth of footage and I’m a happy girl

I can’t kiss the boy but I sure can kiss his picture
Well been working heaps lately, the shop has been rather busy over the Christmas period but I get 2 days off this week which is good. I’m in the midst of clearing up my room and going to charity bin some stuff that I have outgrown *sheepish grin*
Lin’s birthday is tomorrow but we’re going to be doing a dinner thing on Friday and I still haven’t gotten her a present yet!! I’ll either get it today or tomorrow after work or possibly get Ange to get it and we go splitzies on it. Speaking of birthdays, mine’s in a month and a half and I have no idea what to do for it. Possibly a dinner somewhere for the people that are around and when everyone comes back just have another dinner or something. Lol.
Oh yea, for those of you who haven’t heard, I’ve got an 8 month break (woohoo!!) and I start my pracs in July. I’ve got 2 weeks worth of classes to attend in May and June and then have to finish the self-directed prac by June or July and I’m off to Charlie’s for 7 weeks, followed by another 7 weeks in Collie (near Bunbury if anyone is asking) and 7 weeks at Edge Employment, which is in Subiaco.
Had yesterday off from work and I’m rested enough to work again for another 2 weeks before getting my next break. Worked 52.5 hours last week, think that’s my record number of hours per week thus far.
Anyways, have to get back to cleaning out the room. Toodles!
Well, the exam season has settled itself amongst students in Perth. So hence, I’ll be AWOL for a while studying up for voc rehab, mental health and neuro.
Prayer requests:
1. That I do not pick a hard case study for neuro
2. That I do not mess up my neuro exam
3. That I stay well for the whole duration of the exams
4. Everyone else does well in exams!
I’m going all out for this one, last one for my life and I’m good as done!
So if anyone sees me on Facebook lingering and doing mad quizzes or anything like that, please tell me to butt off and continue watching the iLectures.
All the best everyone!!
