Today I was in good spirits that I was going to face the panel of interviewers and be done with it. Little did I know that I would have such a whirlwind day. First of all, this stupid car on the road nearly crashed into me on Riverside Drive while I was merging lanes. I was in the left lane, but wanted to move to the left turning lane once it came up. Next thing I know this stupid car was merging lanes while I was merging lanes at the same time. So she was literally next to me, trying to take the spot that I had vacated while merging lanes. That probably was the stupidest thing to do and I was so annoyed. I tapped my brakes slightly with shock and lucky the car behind me was probably giving way to the lady and therefore did not crash into me. While I braked, I actually turned to look at the lady and she wasn’t even looking where she turned. Which ticked me off all the more, cause we were inches away from each other. I can still remember vividly her number plate: KMC 8 and she was driving a silver/gray Honda Civic, must be this year’s or last year’s model as it was the newer Civic. I was clearly not a happy camper by the time I got into work.

Got to work and caught up on paperwork and phone calls and documentation. Went through my midway evaluation and was alright. 30 minutes before my interview, I was having butterflies in my stomach. I said a silent prayer and went down to get the questions and sat in the lounge area to prepare. It was rather strange to be sitting there, considering everyone was going for lunch and was wondering what in the world I was doing there. So I had to explain myself a few times and hope they didn’t make a big fuss about it, which they didn’t so I was grateful for that. My supervisor was so nice, giving me tips and things like that to talk to them about. Come to think of it, if everything goes well, the people I’m working with now will officially be my work colleagues. It feels rather strange to think about it that way. Anyway, I don’t think I have the time to think about it. I still have to finish my exam paper and deal with my paperwork for migration and all sorts of things. Plus, results should be in by the end of the week so at least I’ll have a relaxing weekend.

I think some of you might know so far that I’ve managed to secure an interview with a panel at where I am doing prac at the moment. It is for the role that I am currently doing now as a student. I was told on Wednesday about the interview and I’ve submitted my CV to the manager for perusal. To be quiet honest, I’m actually quite calm about the whole thing and aiming to go in there and give it my all. After all if I do badly in the interview, it only contributes partially to their decision. They’ve seen how I’ve worked so far for 2-3 weeks and I think that will also count quite a bit. I haven’t told many people so far, just cause I want to keep a low profile about everything. It would suck if it didn’t work out.

I’m planning to read up on the role and the company over the weekend and finish my exam ASAP so I can concentrate on the interview, which I booked for 12.30pm on Tuesday. I’ve also got my midway evaluation with my supervisor that morning and I’ve got to complete that form before I meet with her. Suffice to say, I’ve got quite a busy weekend ahead. It’s also the last weekend in Perth for some of my friends in UWA after the long exam season. So I’ve blocked out Sunday to hang out with them a bit before I head back to work on Monday. I’ve got a long week ahead, and I do want to get things done before their deadlines so that I have my sanity intact at the end of all this.

I’m quite tired today. I woke up at 2am to try and see if I could get the free Air Asia tickets back to KL, but epic fail. Though I did find free tickets to and from to Singapore, which isn’t much use unless I’m actually in Singapore to fly to Malaysia. Spent from 2am till 3am trying to find alternative flights, but didn’t work.

I’ve been rather busy at work lately, travelling up and down visiting clients as well as dealing with the enormous amount of paperwork with each client. I’ve got to do some Job Start paperwork and boy, are they a stack of documents! It’ll be the 1st time I’m filling them out tomorrow, so hopefully all works out.

After work, I still have my exam paper to write, which is due next week *gulp*

I’ve written out the headings and I have a rough idea on what to write it on but having the time to actually sit down and write it, uninterrupted. Looks like I’ll be writing my paper over the next few days. Just need to pass this exam paper and finish up my prac and portfolio and I’m home free and ready to graduate! Speaking of graduation, I handed in my Intention to Graduate form today. So in 5 weeks, I can have my Letter of Completion! Talk about fast. I’ve got to get my Police Clearance and things sorted out and I’m good to go.

Feels like my life story has taken on a new chapter. Next I’ve got to go job hunting. I’ve had 2 JCs tell me that I should apply for a job. I love it and everything, but paywise is a bit less than hospitals. The thing I like here is that I have autonomy and its a brilliant place to work at, the place is full of friendly people and there are quite good job perks. I’ve yet to decide, but 5 weeks is a good enough time frame to decide

Enough pondering about work and stuff, got to get on with life. Exam papers to write, paperwork to sort out! Goodnight

It has been busy week, but last week sure was a delightful week. Monday was the only night that I spent at home, doing work. Managed to take quite a few pictures from the dinners and lunches and outings.

*Warning: Picture heavy post*

Tuesday:
Went for dinner at Aunty Siew Lian’s with Amanda, Alex, Hamish, Evonne, Sebastian, Ethan, Justin, Greg and Aunty Siew Lian. Alex made some pizza and garlic bread. I helped with the pizza and I buttered the garlic bread (see, I can cook :P), which got everyone’s approval. We had some rather interesting conversation topics after dinner. I’ve got some riddles for you. See if you can answer it. I’ll post the answers round the next time

Riddle #1:
Who is the loneliest character in the Bible?

Riddle #2:
Who is the fattest character in the Bible?

Riddle #3:
Which character in the Bible made a large profit?

Riddle #4:
Which character in the Bible has no parents?

If you can answer all of them without Googling them at all, I’d be impressed

Wednesday:
It was Justin’s birthday and we all went out for dinner at Jade Dynasty in Northbridge and headed to Icey Ice after that.

Thursday:
Went for dinner at Estee’s place with Amanda, Gen, Evan, Danny, Sam, Estee, Edrea, Aunty Alice and Chester. The spread was super delicious! I’m still drooling at the memories of all that food!

Cold lobster salad with fruits

Fresh Oysters

Clams and Crayfish

Chilli Crab

Aistella - The brilliant dessert

Evan decided to jump

The Spiderman stuck on the wall that is missing an arm

Sunday:
Michelle, Charmian, JY and I went to Cottesloe after church. It was a bit windy, but other than that I think I did get at least half a shade to one shade darker

We got a bit creative with picture taking (L-R: Michelle, Me, Charmian)

Managed to cut Charmian off by mistake

I didn’t mean to take a picture of that guy’s ass, I was more into getting a picture of the cops telling off some drunks to move along. Honest.

Driver of the day Next time I drive k?

So JY was into posing with his emo hair style

So I got a bit random with the camera…

We went to Ti Amo for dinner after Cottesloe and guess what we found?

This is especially for you, Sam

Before

Weird mussel

After

Supper consisted of ice cream in JY’s room and watching Gossip Girl. I’m hooked now!

Ice cream

I was being cheeky. JY eating ice cream from a beer glass is just too good to miss.

Its now Monday night and I’ve got a meeting at 7.30am tomorrow morning and another 7am meeting on Thursday. I doubt you’re jealous of that. Though I do like what I’m doing now.

I’m off to read the Archie comic that JY gave me and I’m off to bed. Just FYI, it is now 8.30pm

These past week while I took good ol public transport to uni, I had quite a bit of time to think and to watch the world go around. I think the thing that got me ticking most this week was these people who were blatantly walking about as if the road belongs to them and the cars have to give way to them.

One of them yesterday didn’t look at the traffic lights and tried crossing the road, luckily the car was stationery since it was a red light. She stepped in front of it, looked on the opposite side of the road (at this point she was already on the road) and she just stood there. Then the lights turned green and the car wanted to go but stopped for her cause she took another step and just stood there. The bus I was in was just behind that car and honked and only then did she realise what she was doing. I think that is probably the stupidest way to cross the road. Taking 2 steps in front of a car and not even looking at it.

Today on the way to uni I saw another girl who was walking on the road even though there were pedestrian walkways right next to her. For those who don’t know, pedestrian walkways are on only 1 side of the road and she happened to be on that side yet chose to walk on the road. And the bus I was in had to stay in the middle of the road cause she just kept walking on.

I am constantly amazed at how stupid some people can get at times. Sad to say, those 2 girls were Asian and I guess I can’t help but wonder if the typical stereotype of Asians being ‘fresh of the boat’ and ignorant is really true. I can honestly say I don’t fit the typical Asian stereotype of speaking with an accent and having a flat nose. I think I’m probably the most non typical Asian girl, I speak with an Aussie accent, I know enough vocabulary to get by, I have a sharp nose and I have double eyelids. I sometimes think I’m not Asian but my hair colour tells me the truth. I don’t know whether to feel good or insulted when someone says I speak very good English and finds out that I’m from Malaysia and have grown up there.

I think I think too much. I should go to bed since I need to wake up at 6.30am to get to uni by 8am by public transport. But what do you think about the Asian stereotypes?

It was 34 degrees today, apparently the hottest spring day in decades. I was sweating bucket loads from attending uni and came home to nap cause it was too warm to do anything else. I decided against going to the beach cause I just recovered from being sick and I cannot afford to fall sick just prior to the start of my next prac.

I think I got a bit more tan from walking a bit in the sun, which is a great thing cause being pasty white isn’t such a great thing since I was in the office and at home for a while, hiding from the sun. I’m going to the MV Doulos thing in Freo tomorrow, so it’ll be a good day. Going to swing by uni and hand in my cover sheet for my assignment and then swing to pick up Amanda’s car and then go to Freo.

I’m looking forward to my day in the sun tomorrow before having to do my portfolio to submit and prepare for the next prac as well. The sun is shining, the sea breeze is blowing and I can smell spring is in the air. What more can I ask for?
