2017 Goals

краткая характеристика компьютера So 2016 has come & gone with quite the fan fare. Of note would be all the famous people leaving this world & moving on to the next. I came across quite a few articles of those people that have passed & by golly I actually recognise some names. I guess it’s just the way of the time as we all get older & our time on this earth just gets shorter.
Enough with the macabre tone. 2017 is here & I’m excited! It’s the year we’re getting married (5 months away now, eeek!) & lots of exciting opportunities career wise. I’ve been given the opportunity to cover a role at work which uses my OT degree more & I get higher duties to complete. I’m hoping it’ll work out with the role & it’ll give me something to put on my resume. I also got into the pool for the same role in the Northern suburbs, though slightly different to what I do now.
Looking back on last year’s goals, I must say I’ve not done too shabbily. Yes, I have used pretty much the same terminology but that’s just me! I’ve managed to slowly work my way to getting fitter, I joined the gym late last year and have started small bits of exercise in an effort to get more active. The learning to invest goal was a little more difficult, I didn’t manage to get into that as my first investment turned out pretty terrible 😛

http://joyenglish.vn/wp-content/pdd-kz-2016-test.html пдд кз 2016 тест I also managed to see more of my friends during the year as well and will be following that goal into this year too. I’ve attended and started learning Auslan through work. Made it through the basic 8 week course and wanting to do the intermediate course, but haven’t yet found the time due to work commitments and the acting role. I’ve also indirectly learned some German through Matt, who is learning German. I’ve picked up the basics and can understand bits of the German music he plays in the car.
For this year, I’m keen to get some other goals into place as well. Not resolutions, but goals. I’m the kind of person who is outcome focussed, so hence the goals. It’s about the destination & not the journey for me. Although the journey is also pleasant, my focus is the destination ☺️

I’ve got quite a few goals for this year. I’m hoping to completely achieve at least half of them and make a serious dent into the other half. I like to aim big, at least I know I would’ve tried to do lots of things at once. Go big or die trying right?

Declutter

My parents and brother currently live with me in my tiny 3 bedroom place and it is starting to feel a little crowded. They’re moving out soon and Matt will be moving in within the next month or so, whenever their house is finished. All of us tend to accumulate stuff and I know I’m guilty of buying heaps of things that I don’t need and just take up room. I’ve made it my goal this year to seriously declutter, sell or donate my junk or extra stuff as I don’t like living out of my room where everything is just crammed in at the moment. I’m making it a point every day to either chuck stuff, put things into a sell/donate pile and recycling items. Once I’ve gather about a car load of stuff, I’m wanting to go to the local swap meet to sell stuff and donate whatever is leftover so that I don’t collect useless junk.

Decorate house

I haven’t been able to decorate my house to my taste since moving in, I’m keen to expand my creative side and to make it look all nice and pretty. I’ve got all the stuff needed, the thing that’s not on my side this year is time. Between travelling to and from work daily, the wedding planning, the wedding and going out to see friends, it’s hard to get time to do much more than keep the house neat and tidy. I’ll have to work smart this year for that.

Start my side hustle

I’m not making it public yet, but stuff is in the pipeline. Again, time is again not on my side with the amount of things happening this year. I’m keen to get started as this has been a long time coming and I’m itching to start things and be on my way to being my own boss.

Get more active

This is kind of a leftover goal from last year, but it’s good. I’m making small changes each day and and looking forward to being more active and being a healthier version of me for my family.

Eat more home cooked lunches

With mum & dad moving out and Matt moving in, I’m itching to stretch my culinary muscles and will be trying to make more of an effort to make lunches. This is a 2 part goal as it is to save money for everything this year and to also be a healthier version of me.

Plan and go on our honeymoon

We’re thinking of going on an overseas trip maybe at the end of the year or early next year (possibly 3 countries, so there will be heaps of planning involved). We’ve got a few ideas in mind but nothing set in stone yet as money is tight at the moment and we’re saving everything for the wedding at the moment.

Take more photos

Ironic that this post does not have photos, but I want to be able to document our lives and have memories of things. With our new Google Pixels, this has been an absolute dream as we’ve been able to capture quite a lot of moments in absolutely brilliant quality. Plus, unlimited storage through Google cause of the phones really helps with this goal 😉

Blog more

This also ties in with the previous goals, I want to be able to have written down memories of things to look back or have our children look back on and to get to know their parents. Plus, writing has always been my passion, life just got in the way. Or rather, mundane adult responsibilities of paying bills, sleeping and watching TV has gotten in the way of writing. I often have quite a lot of thoughts that I wish I could’ve written down about things that are happening in the world, but sitting down in front of the computer after a long day in front of it at work, just does not seem that appealing sometimes. The whole notion of living my life in front of a screen is not what I want to do.

Make more of an effort with my appearance

I’ve been wanting to experiment more with makeup that I got previously and haven’t been bothered trying out. I’m wanting to be more bold and look more presentable, even if its just a bit of eyeliner or mascara so I don’t look so washed out.

Save for deposit on another property

This one I must admit is a bit of a long term goal. I’m hoping that we’re able to save money to be able to purchase another property and turn one into an investment property for our retirement or something. I’m a bit of a long term planner and want to be able to secure our financial future so that we don’t have to rely on government pensions or things like that which might not be guaranteed in the future. I want to be able to retire on our terms.

I think that’s all for this year’s goals. There are quite a few big ones in there, but I’m hopeful I’ll be able to address most of them. One more goal which I would like for us to be able to achieve this year is to have a great wedding and marriage. Here’s to 2017!

The Last Of 2014

I write this while travelling on the train to the work on the last working day of 2014. It’s this time of year that many people, yours truly included, will take the time to reflect on the year that has been & to make plans for the year to come. While I’m reflecting on this year, next year’s goals & dream will be for another post as there is much more reflecting that I would like to do.

There have been many ups & downs this year, 2014 has been quite the roller-coaster ride. Somehow, it feels like 2014 has only just begun, which is such a weird thing to say on the last day of it. I had quit a job, moved interstate, moved back, got a job, got promoted, graduated from uni with a post grad dip, enrolled to do my masters & got recommended to apply for the next intake of the graduate program at my place of work. In a nutshell, 2014 has been a year of change. I’m not a fan of change & it has been quite challenging to accept all these changes that we’re coming my way so quick & fast. It has been a learning experience & I got there in the end.

There are also aspects of my daily life which have also made a change of sorts. I’ve finally learned to listen to what my body is telling me & being better able to accept that I’m not going to be a size 6 model any time soon. I have fat rolls, love handles & thunder thighs. So what? I’m comfortable in it. I must also mention that I am not healthy at all eventhough I might look so on the outside. I might be a size 12 & weigh 65kg, but I’m pretty sure as hell am not even close to being healthy. I eat junk most of the time, barely eat fruit, have no exercise at all & consume a whole lot of sugar. That’s something that I’m going to be working on in the new year. Not so much to look good, more the fact that I want to be able to live long enough to see my grand kids.

I’ve always had the bad habit of leaving things till the very last minute & I’ve made a small change with that. By my calculations, I’ve only left half the things I wanted to do till last minute, but did half of them before they are due. Also something to work on for next year. And waiting for the perfect time to do stuff was always my excuse. Not anymore.

Reflecting on only what is a small part of the year, I’ve come to the conclusion that change isn’t such a bad thing. It stretches your capacity & builds upon the foundations you at underneath it. Not all change is bad, people have to evolve just as technology has to evolve in keeping up with people. If I had to pick it, I’d say 2015 will be another year full of change. Small changes that will lead to big changes & also big pay off’s. I am really looking forward to it being a great year!

I leave you here with a picture of part of my goal for next year as a sneak peek. Enjoy the celebrations & be safe everyone!

New Years Resolutions 2013

Happy New Year!! I guess this post is a little late, but as the saying goes, better late than never rings pretty true here.

I must admit, I did abandon this blog for a little bit and have been missing it. But hauling out my ancient laptop & waiting for it to boot up is a little painful. Nevertheless, I’m back here & documenting my New Years Resolution so that I can actually look back at it, rather than try to revive it from my memory at the end of the year.

Looking back on 2012, I feel that I’ve learnt many lessons and I have many more to learn. The past is a great learning tool if anything 🙂

  • Turn off my work phone when not at work

One of the big issues for me with work is I tend not to switch off from work mode. I tend to leave my work phone on & actually answer it on weekends or at night time even if its just a text message or an e-mail that could’ve waited for when I’m back at work. I must remember that I cannot always run at everyone’s beck & call and not look after myself. Turning off my phone each night & on the weekends will be a good start to this.

  • Save more money

I must admit, I am a pretty good saver (if I do say so myself!) as it is. Looking back on last year, I managed to buy a house & keep up with my mortgage. Plus overpay it a little, which is a pretty good as achievement in my books. Though I hate to admit this, I could’ve probably saved a bit more. I’ve written out a rough budget for this year to really work in saving every penny. If you know me in real life, I am a bit of a tight arse sometimes but I guess it pays off every now and again 🙂 But in all honesty, I’m working to save extra hard this year as I’m moving to Melbourne with my boyfriend in about 12 months time. Yes, you heard right, I am leaving Perth. That’s another blog post in itself 🙂

  • Pay off mortgage sooner

Pretty much based on the last point, I do also intend to overpay my mortgage so that I can pay it off sooner. I’m the kind of person who absolutely hates to have any debt & with a mortgage (the biggest type of debt one can possibly have) to pay off, I’m counting every last penny to put away for this. Now if only my bank came out with an app or something that tells me how much left I’ve got on my mortgage, I’d love them forever. I’m a big fan of countdown type apps or things left, gives me a goal to work towards 🙂

  • Blog more and take more photos

This is probably the hardest of my resolutions so far. Its been rather easy dealing with Twitter & Instagram on a daily basis than lugging out a laptop to blog. I guess I don’t have much of an excuse as I have a Samsung Note 2 which has the WP app. I guess this for me is more to express stuff in more detail & in more than 140 characters plus build on my creativity. I have been feeling rather meh lately & not having a creative outlet has also been pretty draining. Sometimes it is rather nice to just type away on the computer and just blab out to the internet. I guess I also have been holding back on blogging as I am quite a private person and having my feelings typed out on the interwebs scares me that people might think I’m crazy or are quick to judge what I’m doing against their own sense or morality or right and wrong. I have issues with that. Anyway, I’ve made up my mind that there will be some private posts on there, plus password protected ones so please don’t be offended if I don’t offer you the password to read them as it gives me that peace of mind to be able to have a voice sometimes.

  • Be more social

I am a very homebody kind of person, I’d much rather be sitting at home and cleaning or just watching tv than go out & party every weekend. 2011 was my party year (or year of rebellion as I like to call it) and I can honestly say, I’ve tried the going out clubbing & drinking thing and I don’t like it. I do enjoy a drink every now & again, but I must admit that being hungover for a good part of 2011 was not one of the best things I’ve done in my life. Hey, it had to happen right? I was never a rebellious teenager & have led a mostly sheltered life. I thought that at 25, it was good to say I had my year of partying like a teenager. Maybe I’ve just got arrested development LOL. In all honesty, I’ve had ups & downs last year and I have lost touch with a few friends here and there. I am wanting to make an effort in reconnecting with some friends and maintaining a small bunch of close friends rather than a large bunch of acquaintances. Its those people that you know are your true friends.

Its not a very long list of resolutions, but I’ve always been a believer of starting with small goals or baby steps and then building your way up before trying to tackle life’s rocks. If I can achieve even a small part of these resolutions, I think that’s a step in the right direction. I look at it as, I’ve improved on things from the day before. Even a small improvement is an improvement.

So, what are your resolutions for 2013? Leave me a comment below 🙂
